Artist Statement:
Behind the Art
There is nothing more intimidating than standing in front of a blank canvas and wondering what it will become. There is also nothing more exhilarating.
As I begin to apply paint to canvas I find my work seems to be in continuos motion. Always changing. Always progressing. ...

Patrick Sean Kelley has painting in his blood. Having come from a family of renowned artists, art of all disciplines was never far from reach. As Patrick developed his own unique style of drawing, sculpting and painting, he ultimately received a scholarship to the Rochester Institute of Technology (R.I.T.), where he was formally trained in the arts and as a painter.
Patrick is now residing in Indianapolis, IN where he is the Executive Creative Director for Miller Brooks Advertising, INC. The gritty working class city embodies Patrick's work and inspires his palette. "There is nothing more intimidating than standing in front of a blank canvas and wondering what it will become. There is also nothing more exhilarating".
In his latest body of work, "The Ladies" the palette is rich in jewel tones that seem to swirl about the subject as both organic and geometric shapes. The contrast creates a striking balance of linear one-dimensional planes and soft living three-dimensional forms. The work is inspired as if by the subject. A subject of beauty as it is felt and seen both internally and externally.
Patrick exhibits his work across the country. His work continues to explore the boundaries between life and art.

Patrick's painterly style is brightly expressionistic in nature with hints of realism in every stroke. Bold gestures compliment subtle tonal gradations that give the canvas a three dimensional quality. Patrick has been known to speak candidly about art and expresses that; art in all forms should come from the depths of ones soul. Expressing your true feelings in color for all to see. I never create exactly what I actually see, that's for photographers, it's what I feel about the subject that I paint.
Patrick has received numerous art, advertising, design, illustration & painting awards for creative excellence. The finer side of his creative abilities are and always have been his true passion. His latest works are explored in oil on gallery style canvas. The rich palette of jeweled colors and deeply expressionistic figures are truly a formula only he could create.
