Artist Statement:
My work in both pen and ink and watercolor painting reflects my surroundings in Western New York and Southern Ontario. My landscapes are of the intense natural beauty of the area I live and places I've traveled. My industrial paintings are also depictions of nature, the natural decay of our industrial age and the process of nature reclaiming the materials we use to build. There is great beauty in rust and decay. I feel fortunate to live in such a visually stimulating area of the country....

Creating art is very therapeutic for me, so I try to convey a sense of healing and the renewing aspects of the natural world. I am especially fascinated with the reclaiming by nature of the materials we choose to build with. Where I live in the Northeastern United States, there are many hulking, rusting monuments to another age that are being taken back by a force that never rests. |
