ARTIST STATEMENT
My area of interest revolves
in the realm of abstract
impressionism. I draw my
influences from African and
Mayan Art and blend them with
the way I see individuals
posturing themselves while
they attempt to interact with
one another.
I would describe it as
follows: Basquiat and Francis
Bacon merge together at a
Mayan Temple and discuss the
importance of H.R. Geiger.
I combine spray paint,
white-out and use enamel paint
pens. I never use a paint
brush, as I feel that is a
detachment from me and the
work itself. I paint on canvas
and always keep the work flat.
During this process, I tend to
touch the work itself with my
elbows and hands, as it helps
with projection and connection
to the work. Most of my work,
tends to be no smaller than 3
feet by 4 feet.
