Artist Statement for Regis Dho

Regis Dho
Born of october 10 th, 1948 in Rabbat,

Regis Dho grows up in a country of light, contrasts, strong and spicy scents where beauty and balance reign supreme.
He then joins the Arts Decoratifs School where his talent also allows him to pass a degree of scenography in 1969.

He rents a studio where Auguste Renoir lived for over twenty years.
1985 : success strikes! His exhibition at the Espace Cardin allow Regis Dho to reassure himself ; people like what he paints ; he sells up to
100 paintings overnight...

REGIS DHO does not represent Lilies but the sweet languidness induced by their fragance ,hislove encounter with the so delicate beauty of fern leaves at twiligth, the broken red strength of honeysuckles which perfectly counterbalances the voluptuous carmine of deliquescent peonies.
He is the Impressionist's heir not in the way he treats light but by this divisionist technique and by his knowledge of Chevreul's theories . For him, painting is a sacred art which trancends him to become an ethereal body, he tries to make the spiritual dimension spring from the material denseness. Brigitte MAO ART HISTORIAN
