| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
There were several. One of them was going to the Met in NYC and just absorbing all that great artwork. Just seeing all the beauty around made me want to aspire to more bigger things with my own work.
Another inspiration was watching the movie, "Lust for Life" with Kirk Douglas as Vincent van Gogh. Obviously, the ending didn't inspire, it was seeing van Gogh's excitement as he saw a new scene to paint. His active brushstrokes and never stopping.
One more inspiration was picking up a book of Edward Hopper's New England paintings. I fell in love with his work and wanted to touch people with my work as he had done for me with his. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
It has always been with me as long as I remember. I had severe asthma as a child, so I couldn't do a lot of the things the other kids were doing. I was in bed and hospitalized many times, to keep busy and happy, I painted, drew, made crafts and such. I continued painting on into adulthood, pursued it in college and here I am! |

| Your Personal Biography |
Hi, thank you for visiting. Let me tell you a little about myself, I live in Massachusetts with my husband, older son, young daughter and son along with two cats. I'm also a Freelance Graphic Designer. I like to travel (especially the to the New England coast), read, lighthouses, independent films, write poetry and short stories and listen to music. My primary mediums of choice are Acrylics, Oils and Watercolor. I also do some Collage work, Drawing, Pen and Ink, Pastel and Wood block/Linocut prints. Commissions are always welcomed, if interested, please email me.
I regularly show at the Dane Gallery, in Indian Orchard of Springfield, Massachusetts, from which I sell my artwork and prints. I rent a studio that's part of a small artist community that includes over 46 artists/artesians and have been a resident there since 1994. Twice a year the artists have a huge open studio event that lasts the whole weekend each time. In my studio, I work on my paintings, greet guests and conduct private sales throughout the year. I also exhibit my art in restaurants, fairs, college exhibits, other galleries, hospitals, libraries, bookstores, juried competitions and many other public places. I've exhibited a lot throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. My paintings grace the homes and businesses of customers throughout United States and Canada
I've earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Westfield State College in Massachusetts in studio painting with a concentration in art history. I consider myself to be self-taught though because I have been creating art since the age of four. As a child, I had won many art competitions. As an adult, I continue to get awards. Painting has been and will always be my passion throughout my life.
As a child, I had and continue to have a great love of nature. I was fascinated by the vibrant colors of sunsets, flowers, sea and landscapes.
My goal as an artist is to capture the very things that change quickly due to the season, weather or aging and present them to the viewer. I like to give each piece a bit of life and vitality by using pure and intensified colors. Often my art has been described as being therapeutic in the sense that it can uplift you.
summer of 2006 was a very busy one. First, my family and I spent a week at the Cape (Cod). While there, I took over 300 hundred reference photos and did some plein air paintings too. We covered almost every town along the Cape's coastline. We enjoyed weekends in Rhode Island, the Berkshires and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The summer ended with a peaceful retreat to Ogunquit, Maine. There, we checked out the beaches, lighthouses and forest areas, the many little shops of the historical town, Kennebunkport, and the other sights along the way.
In 2005, I checked out an entirely different landscape, Arizona, and fell in love with the immense beauty that surrounded me, the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Scottsdale, the Painted Dessert, the Sonoran Desert and the Pondarosa Pine Forests up north in Payson. Truly a trip worth taking. I took over 800 photos and got a lot of great ideas for future paintings.
In 2007, I explored the Big Island of Hawaii. I took many photos, sketched often and found new inspirations for my future paintings. Summer, we vacationed in Ogunquit, Maine again. We went to the familiar landmarks as well as some new scenic spots. Some were Bath, Popham (beach & fort) and beautiful Cape Porpoise.
Well, that's about it. Now I've got a ton of great ideas to work with. Thanks for checking out my biography page. |
