Artist Statement:
FOUND OBJECT SCULPTURE BY RENE
HINDS
There are moments when an
experience recognized itself
and becomes external, when a
dormant response is re-charged
and we nod "yes" to a reality.
it is within this constant
shift betweem ambiguity and
clarity that I make art and
struggle to find a universal
narrative that is seeable.
My work and I have evolved
together, touching many levels
of experience and often
springing from an emotional
base. The unpredictable and
technical must be wed to free
meaning by the use of color,
form and material.
As an artist who was born,
raised and works in New York
City, many of my images have
been generated through an
intimacy with the urban
environment and it's absurd
realities. The act of turning
toward and away from a source
simultaneously, the competing
forces of dark and light as
shifting pairs of opposites,
and the tenuous balance within
chaos are motifs which I
continue to explore, often
through a whimsical eye.
