Artist Statement:
To me, photography is about me
becoming who I am. Photography
is soul-searching. Photography
is meditation. I am able to
leave the shell of my body and
express my thoughts, my
sights, my emotions.
I find that , very often, I do
not include a subject's head
or the entire surface of their
body--either by cropping or by
blurring. Often I do this
because it is not particularly
the person's likeness that I
am attempting to capture. I am
trying to capture a
feeling--sometimes their
feeling--sometimes mine. I am
attempting to express that
feeling to the viewer. At
times, the feeling is
emotional: happiness, love,
sadness, loneliness. At other
times, the feeling is
physical: the slope of a
woman's collar bone, the
warmness and comfort of light.
I do not expect other people
to like or to even understand
my photography. My photography
is not about other people. My
photograhy is about myself. At
times, I do not even
understand these images
because it comes from a place
that is deep within me--or a
place that hovers around me.
At certain times I am able to
enter this other place and
capture images. ...
