Artist Statement for River Wolfe

I could have never dreamed this life with all of it's quirks, but I dream this gift of art everyday.

My studio sits on the top floor of a 75 year old home in urban Columbus, Ohio. The mornings are filled with sunlight from the east window, birds singing the praises of another day, head swirling with inspiration, and the immense gratitude I feel for living the free life of an artist at work.

My need to communicate through pictures has always been a part of me. My love for beads, and other ornaments began while recovering from a life-altering accident. My hands were able to speak while the rest of my body lay in silence.

I discovered polymer clay several years after my love affair with jewelry artistry began. In the clay I found a medium that allowed me to actually create my own ornaments and beads. Stretching, rolling, carving, and painting the clay has opened me. There are no limits to the beauty and form as I create through clay. Sharing and exploring the spiritual and sacred side of life is essential as I use the clay. There exists such a rich mixture
of spiritual inspiration in our world I am awed, and humbled.
