Artist Statement for Roseann Gilmore

|
|
I prefer to work with oils on canvas and I describe my paintings as representational. I enjoy the way the paint adheres to the canvas with colors that create a series of images evolving into a work of art. My subject matter originates from memory, photos, dreams and imagination. I develop my ideas through a series of sketches and then draw the chosen composition on a prepared canvas.
While creating my art, I immerse myself fully into the process and completely shut out my surroundings. I find it a demanding but rewarding process and get enormous satisfaction from the end result. My paintings are direct and straightforward with no hidden meanings attached. I would like them to be appreciated simply for the pleasure they may bring.
