Artist Statement:
Robert Newton, a contemporary British painter and printmaker, living and working in Northumberland, UK.
The work is a direct response to my surroundings, exploring colour composition and expression. Drawing upon intuition as well as a time-honoured approach to painting landscapes and nature. Always seeking to depict some tangible form, the resulting works become abstract by nature yet attempt maintain the very traditions of a British landscape painting.
