Artist Statement:
Robert Newton, a contemporary
British painter and
printmaker, living and working
in Northumberland, UK.

The work is a direct response
to my surroundings, exploring
colour composition and
expression. Drawing upon
intuition as well as a
time-honoured approach to
painting landscapes and
nature. Always seeking to
depict some tangible form, the
resulting works become
abstract by nature yet attempt
maintain the very traditions
of a British landscape
painting.

"Unpopulated and unflinchingly
abstract, Rob Newton's
canvases feature vast,
uninterrupted skies that sweep
across his paintings in just
about every shade of blue
imaginable......shows the
artists true dexterity"

Rachael Ogden, Metro Life
