Artist Statement:
A tiny hand moves along a wall, feeling its way with care, sensing, seeing. Across a hard polished headboard, down to a soft, pliant pillow, the hand continues its journey, arriving at length on the warm, sleeping form of a woman.
She dreams a caress as the hand explores the contours of her face. Fingers feel their way from her forehead downward. Eyes, cheeks, lingering on lips, chin, neck, necklace.
The woman awakes, startled to find her blind young son leaning over her bed. She scolds him, saying "Fingers are not like eyes".
In this scene from the Australian film, PROOF, a blind man flashes back to a moment in childhood which had a significant effect on who he has become as an adult.

This "understanding" eventually finds expression as a work of art. Take a few minutes to explore my world by visiting my image gallery. Let me know what you think. After all, we are all part of the same world, we just see it through different eyes.
