Artist Statement:
My abstracts are organic, tactile and reflective; they express fleeting moments of nature's power and fragility, using three-dimensional media and modeling pastes, with acrylic paints enables me to express depth and texture
The artwork invites you to experience a connection through multiple levels of sensory stimulation, touch and sight!
In my still life paintings, I try to capture beauty and preserve it on canvas, be it in a flower's petal or a setting sun… the short-lived miracles of nature.
Acrylic paints allow me to work fast before that fragile beauty is gone forever.
I was born and educated in Amman, Jordan, a daughter of a Palestinian father and a Jordanian mother. In 1987 I moved to Canada, leaving behind the harsh political turbulences and the never-ending promise of peace in the Middle East. Three years later I became a Canadian citizen.
Practicing art full time was always my dream, but with life's many demands and my educational background in business, this dream was repeatedly pushed aside. In 1999 I decided to make a change in my life in pursuit of this dream. I had made a commitment to myself to begin painting again. Only ...
