Artist Statement:
SUNLIGHT AT THE END OF AN AFTERNOON....
Sunlight in the late afternoon is a catalyst for intense feelings...a longing and an elation at the same time.
SNOW
The landscape of my childhood was covered with snow all winter, but I longed for the sea. Today I am at home ...

Reviews for Yoli Salmona:
|
|
|
'Yoli is a serious artist, with a soft but distinctive touch...'
John McDonald, Art writer, Sydney 2003
'Yoli Salmona harponne l'invisible qui se love au sein du visible. Elle montre l'attente, le secret, en se maintenant sur la ligne de crête d'un réalisme qui, finalement, perce la lumière'
Pr Daniel Leuwers, Cultural Attaché at The French Embassy in Australia 1991
'In judging the Print Section I was looking for works that combined the distinctive quality of the chosen print technique, with the artist's personal view of life, as well as an aesthetic arrangement of formal design. The winning work 'Hotel Bondi' by Yoli Salmona is a highly accomplished use of the silkscreen medium, and strikingly dramatic in its crisp economical arrangement of form and colour. However, its outstanding feature is the irony of concept - the presentation of an historical respectable façade with masks the true nature of the environment and contempory life style...'
