Artist Statement:
As far as I remember, I have always been indulging in some kind of an artistic activity, even as a little kid. I started by drawing little birds on the walls in my parents bathroom, which wasn't as appreciated as I'd hoped.
While I was hoping I could make a living off my art, the art school I wanted to enter at 18 returned my portfolio with the comment that my painting/drawing was too realistic and that in these times where photography was available, I didn't have anything "interesting" to offer the art world. Even so, I never gave up art completely. Most of my work was done in black and white.
More recently, I tried for the first time to work with acrylics, under the influence of my friend the painter SkyHawk. I was surprised to find out that using color was not as hard as I expected. As a result I have produced many portraits of indigenous people, which allowed me to explore all the possibilities of the color palette.
