| Why Did You Become An Artist |
One day to pass the time I began to sketch. I didn't realize that I had the natural ability to draw. The more I sketched, the more I loved it. I thought it would be interesting to bring my sketches to life by adding color. So I began to paint with oil on canvas. I watched my sketches come alive and dance on the canvas. I couldn't believe my eyes. I became very passionate about my art and wanted to paint all the time. Then I took a short eight week oil painting course and realized that I had discovered a way to express myself through my work. I then sought out one of the best teachers in North America and registered at Sutton Art. I completed the first course and was then advanced to be amongst professional painters. I love what I do and want others to find beauty, meaning and inspiration through my art. |

Taxi-cab driver turned Professional Painter
About the Artist
Saeed Hojjati immigrated from Iran to Canada in 1988. It was difficult for him to get started, especially because he spoke almost no English. He took English language studies just so he could be capable of getting a regular job. For several years he did all sorts of odd jobs, including delivering pizza and being a line cook. After struggling for several years in jobs that didn’t suit him, Saeed started driving a cab in 1991. He really loved the interaction with people and found it very enjoyable. He pocketed everything he could so he could one day afford his own cab. Eventually, he was able to purchase several cabs and created work for many of his friends.
The life of a cab driver is spent waiting for the next fare. One day it occurred to Saeed that he might like to try sketching while he was waiting. To the amazement of his friends and family, Saeed was incredibly talented at drawing. He soon thought that it would be nice to add color to his sketches and took up painting.
Saeed discovered a world renowned art instructor, Eileen Raucher Sutton
who runs the Sutton Art School.
His passion is now doing custom paintings for his clients, both oil and acrylic. He especially loves to do landscapes, perspectives, buildings, tropical scenes and golf art. I also love to express my faith in pieces of art.
