| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
I love the idea of something clean and faceted, against something rough and rugged. The contrast has always lent inspiration to my design concepts when creating fused glass, mosaics, ceramics and forged metal for my lapidary works. I also lean towards robust, vibrantly-hued objects, like an apple, or a chunk of Terra Cotta clay, and I'll pair them with something more sleek and modern, like stainless steel or titanium. The result is positively stunning! |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I can't recall ever NOT wanting to be involved in art. I was never formally educated in art, but for some reason, I already understood the concept of design and had a keen eye for visual arts. It seems only natural I do this. I don't think I would function properly or even survive without art. |

| Your Personal Biography |
Serena Pena is a local jewelry designer and artisan with strong Latin roots and style, as well. Her heritage, along with her intense interest in the arts, has spawned an eclectic medley of island-inspired jewelry collections with traditional and modern flair, as well as spicy, organic, exotic accents. Always attracted to natural beauty and vivid art, Serena's creations are a unique combination of rough, earthy pieces, infused with glitzy crystals and precious metals, and accented with brilliantly hued glass, stones and shells of odd shapes and forms. Her work includes the use of platinum,14k, 18k and 22k gold, vermeil, sterling silver, stainless steel, titanium, rough and faceted precious and semi-precious gemstones and crystals, Venetian and Czechoslovakian glass, Swarovski crystals, and authentic, gold-plated sea shells and other ocean treasures.
Serena offers unique specialties and a hand-made array of finely crafted, intricate designs, and also inspired custom creations, or one of a kind, elemental, wire-wrapped gems, colorful vintage beading, and hand-formed, hand-painted medallions and pendants, using ceramic clay, pmc, metal forge technique, glass fusing technique and mosaic art technique. Every piece in Serena's collection has at least two or three pieces of natural stone, shell, art glass or gem, found in a mine or on a beach, then cut and polished and/or painted, wrapped in wire or free-form, or simply cleaned and left alone to display it's natural luster. Everything in Sapphire Ice’s Serena Pena Collection is hand-crafted with pride and is an honor to share with fellow nature loving patrons and passersby. |
