RECENT NEWS:

STATEMENT:
Social concern and the notion of responsibility are the foundations of my work. Being a white, educated, queer woman, I feel obligated to address my privilege and experience through my work. With the loaded issues illuminated in my image making (gender, religion, class, consumerism, and more) in which emotions and opinions are highly sensitive and activated, it is imperative to look closely at the way in which they are approached and discussed. A non-defensive tactic towards conversation is the most productive, enlightening and captivating. I choose to create political art because provocative issues can be approached with beauty and sensitivity. Art can provide an alternate viewpoint and therefore, a less volatile environment in which to look at/discuss these social conversations. It is here, that there is room for humor, metaphor, beauty, and play in the realm of highly controversial political issues that are typically dealt with in extreme sincerity.
