Artist Statement:
My interests lie in issues of identity, history and my own sense of place in the world. Concentrating on the domestic environment and the human condition I search for the self and a community within the grounds on which I traverse by investigating the family, the heritage, and the baggage of the past. There exists a focus on matters germane to feminine identity, which explores issues of aging, modesty, vanity, desire and beauty. I believe there is a relationship between self-perception and the feminine ideal in culture that provokes a dichotomy within modern society. My efforts seek to experience the dualities of the past and the present and represent some notions of history through the photographic image by addressing these concerns.
