Artist Statement:
Atelier Alexander Sutulov is a digital art studio specializing in a wide range of fine art productions. Its mission is to offer and exhibit to a general public a unique approach towards a new form of artistic expression. In the past decade, Digital Painting has been a revolutionary concept of bringing together all artistic media into one coherent visual language.
Considering the background of visual artist Alexander Sutulov where his training encompasses a vast experience in all form of media such as drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture, his digital art work constitutes a synthesis of his entire previous endeavour in addition to the new challenges established by digital media.
At close observation, Alexander’s work can be recognized in its richness of surface and most important, the achievement and mastery of a technique where its attempt in any other media would be virtually impossible. The true value of his work relies on this fact where combined with state of the arts printing technology, the end result are authentic works of art.

SUMMARY
More than twenty-five years experience in the visual arts field with emphasis in painting, printmaking, sculpture and digital media. For the past ten years, the artist work has been devoted to art commissions of permanent installations and visual art projects for public and private entities. His interest is to provide a model of aesthetic value which will transcend in time with a sense of cultural identity and belonging.

Más de veinticinco años de experiencia en el campo de las artes visuales con énfasis en la pintura, grabado, escultura y soporte digital. En los últimos diez años, el trabajo del artista ha estado orientado en llevar a cabo comisiones de instalaciones permanentes y proyectos de artes visuales para entidades tanto públicas como privadas. Su interés es proveer un modelo de valor estético que trascienda en el tiempo por medio de una identidad cultural y sentido de pertenencia.
BIOGRAPHY
Alexander Sutulov was born in Concepción, Chile, in 1962. He attended the Institute of Contemporary Art in Santiago from 1980 to 1984 and continued his study of art at the University of Utah from 1985 to 1987 with emphasis in painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture.
From 1988 to 1990 he worked and collaborated at artist co-op Artspace and Stonehenge where he researched hand built techniques with stoneware, porcelain, wood and metal. He worked as an independent artist at the University of New Mexico Printmaking Department from 1990 to 1992. His work at the time with various printing techniques was focused in the use of second generation images. He continued his graphic work with Atelier Sutulov-Gienger from 1992 to 1994 where in conjunction with Black & Blue Press, Golden, New Mexico, he specialized in the use of positive and negative plates for hand printed lithographic limited editions.
From 1994 to 1996 he divided his work between Chile and the United States applying his printmaking experience in digital generated images for mural painting and lithographic limited editions.
Since his return to Chile in 1994, the artist has been part of a variety of corporate and institutional art projects such as: History of Concepción Mural Project commissioned by the Bío-Bío North Ream Urban Development Project, Gasco Energy Sculpture Project commissioned by Gasco gas company in Santiago and the recently inaugurated History of Chilean Mining Mural, 3 story digital mural commissioned by Chilean Bureau of Mines and the University of Concepción.
Since 1990 he showed several graphics work in selected Group and Solo Exhibitions in Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Dominican Republic, England, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Slovenia, Taiwan and United States.
The artist studio is currently devoted to a wide range of digital art projects specializing in digital painting, fine art limited editions, editorial projects, digital murals, multimedia, corporate and institutional commissioned art projects for public and private spaces.
Alexander Sutulov nació en Concepción, Chile, en 1962. Estudió en el Instituto de Arte Contemporáneo en Santiago, Chile, desde 1980 a 1984. Continuó sus estudios de arte en la Universidad de Utah, Estados Unidos, desde 1985 hasta 1987 especializándose en dibujo, pintura, grabado y escultura.
Entre 1988 y 1989, trabajó y colaboró en las cooperativas de artistas Art Space y Stonehenge, donde se especializó en la labor escultórica con cerámica y porcelana. Posteriormente, trabajó como artista independiente en el Departamento de Grabado de la Universidad de Nuevo México, Estados Unidos desde 1990 hasta 1992, donde pudo experimentar y perfeccionar distintas técnicas de grabado tales como: intaglio, xilografía, serigrafía, litografía y monotipo. Continuando su trabajo de artista gráfico, se especializó en el uso de diferentes técnicas de foto-transferencia con planchas litográficas en el taller Black & Blue Press, Golden, Nuevo México y paralelamente, formó el taller Sutulov-Geinger en Albuquerque, desde 1992 hasta 1994.
A partir de 1990 ha presentado numerosos trabajos en seleccionadas exposiciones grupales e individuales en: Argentina, Australia, Canadá, Chile, Corea, Eslovenia, Estados Unidos, Inglaterra, India, Italia, México, Japón, Taiwán, y República Dominicana.
Desde su regreso a Chile en 1994, ha desarrollado diversos proyectos artísticos entre los que se destacan la escultura Energía Gasco, emplazado en el edificio corporativo de Gasco en Santiago. Uno de sus proyectos recientes fue el proyecto mural Historia de la Minería Chilena inaugurado en agosto de 2005 en el nuevo edificio de Ingeniería Metalúrgica de la Universidad de Concepción. Actualmente está desarrollando proyectos artísticos orientados a espacios institucionales y corporativos, tales como, murales digitales, ediciones limitadas, proyectos editoriales y animaciones digitales.
