Artist Statement:
Pamela Witzke, known as the artist SCARLET, was not an artist early on in life.
Having had a successful career and education, then forced to give them up due to extenuating health circumstances, Pamela did not find the medium of Art until later on in life. Extreme Digital Imagery, which is her art form, is a relatively new concept, having been developed only since 1998. The concept is using Digital Imagery and creating images that visually can be considered "outside of the box". Inotherwords, irrational in nature, not conforming to any standards of harmony or balance, giving the presentation of what one doesn't expect in rational, logical terms yet using subjects/objects that are. Visually the art should be clear and concise, no blurs blips or blobs yet leaving a question-mark like impression on the viewer. It is very close to Surreal art. So far the art form itself has been limited to the Internet in nature/source.
"Although learning art later rather than since school, I feel as though this was an attribute rather than a negative thing because, by then, I had learned alot about life, people and other ways in which to use my mind. ...

"What price glory" did he become the most well reknown, monetarily successful and infamous artist in the world? Not when he was alive, certainly society would not allow him in. He lived and basked alone in his art. what a pity his fame came when he could not enjoy it.
But he knows...he knows..
and who is laughing now? |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I was left with no other alternatives due to debilitating physical disabilities, I was given the chance to pursue art online. I learned to glory in it , started teaching and now am ready to take it offline, if I can get the chance to . I need to find grant money in order to afford a small studio to paint and supplies.I was left with no other alternatives due to debilitating physical disabilities, I was given the chance to pursue art online. | Your Personal Biography |
Having earned a double Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Philosophy, Pamela went onto get her Master's degree in Psychology. She interned and spent one year in medical school, having planned on either getting her Phd. in Psychiatry or Neurosurgery. However, having run out of scholarships and money, she was forced to seek employment in a different field,
Pamela gained the equivalent of a 4 year education in 8 months through a Forbes company and became a computer analyst in software for MVS systems.
At the age of 27, she was one day struck down with a collapsed back and diagnosed with a spinal disease that went undiagnosed and unsymptomatic since birth. At that time, she had to give up her job, getting ready to move into upper management, and begin living a life unbeknownst to her, being disabled and severely limited. Pamela found different ways in order to educate herself for personal goals in various ways. However she was never able to act upon any in gainful employment.
When she discovered the Internet, she also discovered her art. She has since become an awarding winning artist with over 1500 pieces in her collection of Extreme Imagery, a teacher with classes online and also an owner of several groups that are learning and exhibiting places for other artists to participate in.

FUTURE
For the past several years, Pamela has wanted to take her art "offline" and transfer chosen Extreme Digital Images onto canvas. However, due to lack of funding/grants along with more health problems she has temporarily not been able to do this yet. At the present time, she is still seeking financial supportive resources to help her reach her goals.
She plans on calling her first show
"Virtual Meets Reality"
