Artist Statement for Susan Holland
|
|
|
From the outset of my formal art education, in the 1950's, (yes, I've been around a long time!) I have embraced fully the notion that art is the product of the culture of the day and a unique mark of the artist.
"No one else can but you can make your marks.
Listen to your bones. Speak with your spirit.
Edit with your head. Live with your heart."
My studio now is more like a tent in the desert...the chances of moving away from here are great, but the studio will come along like my hands and eyes do. I have a workshop going on starting in February 2011 which will also move with me if I have to move.
I've begun writing articles. Likely published ones will come up if you Google my name and "emptyeasel.com"
Painting a portrait just now, and looking to foot surgery in a few days, I am going into this new year with the hard stuff first (I hope), and plan on pushing hard with my art marketing this year.
You can still see my main switchboard at www.ooothere.com (means only one out there).. and that will get fleshed out as the weeks go by.
I am slimming down my chart of activities, planning on blogging less (www.oldswimmer.wordpress.com) but will not give that one up. Facebook is on the way out of my schedule-- too much time wasted there doing interesting but non productive things.
That is the news...my "statement" for the nonce. Susan
