Artist Statement:
"Life brings us choices ---
like palettes filled with
colours. We make our marks in
blank papers and canvases by
dipping ourselves in these
choices. Sometimes, we find
ourselves with 'happy
accidents' and other times, we
make irrevocable mistakes and
we learn to live with them.
There are times when we can
even find mistakes beautiful.
It's the same with art making
for me.
I love to paint in various
impressionistic -
expressionistic styles, thanks
to the influences of Van Gogh,
Monet, Renoir, Matisse, and
other artists. I also explore
the area of pop/folk/outsider
art because I'm fascinated by
its sheer guts and its
connection with the practice
of psychology.
My painting subjects include
florals, landscapes, still
life, figures, and anything
that captures world culture,
among others. There are also
moments when I just throw out
what I'm used to painting and
try something totally
different from my usual
subjects.
Other than being a painter,
I'm also a trained
psychologist and a freelance
writer. My other interests
include: reading, TV/movies,
music, web design, world
culture, nature, and
travelling. I have lived
and/or visited the following
places: Singapore,
Philippines, USA, UK, South
Africa, Malaysia, Dubai...
