PRAKRUTI
We know ourselves to be made from this earth. We know this earth is made from our bodies, for we see ourselves and our nature. We are Nature, seeing Nature
-Susan Grissin.
Prakruti, is a an insight to seeing K.G Ganesha Shastri’s integration with nature- in a way that enables us to visualize living in mutually enhancing relationships with the wilder Earth Community.
Borderless paintings recall Shastri’s experiences at Shantiniketan as a guide. For very simple reason, he has investigated his involvement with the timely changes of seasons than for any other human relations. He identifies cause and effect in nature, which demonstrates how one event leads to another and affects all levels of human experiences.
To have lived in Shantiniketan, Shastri has had the most striking, sensual experiences. Witnessing the cycle of nature has inspired him to observe and follow the fabulous life cycle and beauty of color in its utmost natural form. In an attempt to capture different textures and designs throughout the seasons, he has met the challenges of representing them both in realistic and abstract form. This initiates a relationship between the forces that flows through humans. He closely investigates devastation of nature in his works and says, Nature is also the destroyer as well as the creator. Quoting, this he confirms that we, human beings are nothing but another form of nature.
His paintings through a specific frequency have led compositions, not be arranged artificially around some fashionable idea or any controversial event. He uses hand-made sheets with uneven edges and the direct soil of Shantiniketan, which dictates the experience of the far, isolated areas of the tribes of Bengal.
His nature based visual appetite still demands wider, deeper and more significant experiences. In an attempt to have the quality in clarity of light, his works convey certain peace and calmness to the viewer, since that is the effect of inbuilt nature. He looks at beauty outside the frame of proportionality. These paintings consists streaks of reds, blacks, blues, whites, oranges and combinations of these colors all thrown together in a jumble without any type of apparent intention.
Assuming that the titles are a true reflection of what Shastri is trying to depict, it is nearer to understand, exactly how this cacophony of colors truly support. His works have been careful, to make a definite assignment of not misleading the simple viewer.
