Artist Statement:
Mark Nakamura is interested in producing documentation of fictions as a strategy to create works that focus on ideas rather than physical objects. By producing art referents or semantic/semiotic modifiers, though it may result in a material form in itself, his works often reside in the space outside of the art object. Nakamura is also interested in collaborations that result in atypical gift economies.
