Artist Statement for Simeon Gigov
|
|
|
It is a pleasure for me, as a manager of Simeon Gigov, to present his art, since the artist is appealing to almost tangible, multi-layer mixture of reality and symbols capturing the imagination.
Simeon Gigov’s oil paintings are marked by their expressive dynamic, clear color and modern form. The fantastic-abstract themes are represented with superb artistry. His works harmoniously combine the influence of modern classic artist and pronounced original temperament. In his paintings Simeon is presenting different reality, invisible to the eye, but perceptible only through intuition. Applying classical means of expression, plain form and perspicuous composition he strives for abstract symbolism, mood and atmosphere, inspired by real life. Deep down the artist has retained his love of child’s fancy, clear colors, fantastic themes and forms, which shows his strong connection with nature.
The mural and illusion painting take particular place in Simeon Gigov’s art.
His mural paintings are an integral complement to architecture. Harmoniously combined content, colors and forms occupy the walls of the premises, suggest an illusionary space and open a new horizon. Simeon’s mural paintings are remarkable for their temperamental dynamic, inspired by the Antique and Renaissance masters. They create an illusion of fairy-tale reality, aesthetic delight due to its high artistic and skilled implementation.
Gigov's magnificent decors in Vienna State Opera create an ambient, classic shell to the usually modernized theater and opera space. They help us to discover Brecht and Mozart, Shakespeare and Bellini through impressing mixture of classical and modern architectural, sound and set technologies. His ability to represent multiple materials and textures makes his decors ambivalent and expressive.
Simeon Gigov has Master of Art from Academy of Art Vienna (Austria) and Sofia (Bulgaria). He is a member of:
1.Union of Austrian Artists (IGBILDENDEKUNST) and International Association of Art to UNESCO;
2 The Union of Bulgarian Artists.
