Sipho has exhibited throughout the United States in New York to California, Canada, Sofia Bulgaria, Ferrara Italy at the International Videoart Festival and the Florean Museum, Romania, for the International Experimental Film Festival. Awards in include ARTV Award Winner, the Frontice Piece cover award with New Art International Annual 2003-2004 edition, Regional River Market juried by Debra Singer with The Whitney Museum of American Art (cash award) and the Manhattan Arts merit award. Publications consist of Art World News Jan 2006, Who's Who in American Art 2005-2006, upcoming publication 2005/2006 International Encyclopedic Dictionary of Modern and Contemporary Artist, New Art International, Direct Art, and Gallery & Studio.
With abstract there is no model to imitate. I’m free to expand my inner creativity beyond the norm and pioneer new ways of self-expression through color exploration and liquid manipulation,” states Ella Sipho, a Kansas City native abstract expressionist.
Sipho’s focus is color exploration combined with liquid manipulation outside the main stream to create beauty, flow, and movement. This process allows the viewer to behold unusual color combinations of vivid, bright and bold abstract images not typically seen.
Sipho process involves overlapping color by using flowing fluids, combined with brush strokes, finger strokes and physical rotation of canvas to create variance in flow and texture.
This process is unique as no less than seven different colors are used in the majority of pieces. Yet, beauty prevails outwardly within the chaos of multiplicity of colors and each piece is defined by the viewer’s own perception.
