| Welcome to Susan Malmgren's Portfolio. Browse Malmgren's body of work: Growing up the daughter of an artist meant that I was exposed to wonderful art at a very early age. Unfortunately the perceived pressure to do it the “right way” inhibited and ultimately stops my early attempts at making art. Fortunately, in 1990 I found Barbara Clark who has encouraged my personal vision and I found I could make art that is truly mine. The abstract expressionists have influenced me greatly, particularly Franz Kline and William DeKoning. The most inspiring is Frank Stella because he keeps trying new things.
