Artist Statement:
Living in Mexico has strongly
influenced my work.
The NINOS SERIES are are a
good exemple of this: The
beautiful Mexican children are
a constant inspiration.
The SUZUKI FIDDLERS are
another delightful and
exciting subject.
The CORRIDA SERIES is another
exemple of this influence. I
have been working on three
series on this theme:
The CORRIDA
WOMAN/TORO
The REVENGE of the BULL
I love the elegance and daring
of the toreador. I hate the
fact that the bull will die
almost everytime at the end.
However, all is not unfair to
the bull…. A bull loses his
innocence only once, and if he
has been fought in the field
he will remember the lesson he
learned in there when he gets
to the ring he will kill the
matador. They say a bull
learns more in half an hour
than a man does in a
lifetime.. Thus the revenge of
the Bull!
I have become fascinated with
the Corrida, it attracts me
and repulses me at the same
time. Love and hate are very
close, that is how I feel
about the Corrida. The theme
of Woman/Toro is very similar
to the corrida, a man has the
upper...
