Artist Statement:
As I traveled, I kissed good-bye pieces of myself in places I visited. But I took as much as I gave and sometimes even more: inhaling the smell of a wet July morning on the Austrian-Slovak border; a light transparent blue grey smell, listening to the falling rain on the river at night in my hometown. That heavy sound carried itself to my canvas as a thick impasto and drips of deep Pthalo blue mixed with Burnt Umber. Watching the sunset on the Nile River in Luxor; vivid yet unreachable, the colors were emitting an endless charm on a warm November evening.
I can’t recall the specific names of most places, I can vaguely remember the country or the city but I can clearly see the time of day, temperature and smell of air and feel the butterflies in my chest as I fell in love with the whole world in their presence.
As I depict these memories, I strive to be loyal to all my senses so my paintings would be simply a sincere translation of what my memory managed to carry as my eyes were carried away. ...
