Artist Statement:
“I started by taking the literal and historical definition of an allegory—an image illustrating an abstract concept, idea, or story often suggesting deeper meaning. I then add a paradox to the picture—a statement (the title of the artwork) that seems contradictory, but may be, in fact, true. So, by combining these concepts, I want to literally abstract the mere idea of the historical allegory in order to twist it into a new series of abstracted shapes and colors. Throughout my work, I’m inviting the viewer to personally associate with my abstracts on his or her own subconscious level. You see, by naming each piece with a thought provoking French title (which cannot be displayed at this website), I’m suggesting an even deeper meaning and dimension for each piece. My objective by adding this new dimension is to suggest that the viewer elevate their subconscious thought process. In essence, I want each viewer to experience the timelessness of meaning—seeing something totally new within the artwork each time they experience the piece.”...
