I have been blessed with the Spirit to help create these paintings. I say help create, because I believe they come from a higher power and are produced by an energy which channels through me, not from me. They often surprise me as the picture unfolds with The Creator's own touch. I have too many stories, for it not to be so! Many people agree. Here is just one of the many testimonials I have received. "I was drawn to that one because of the power of the Spirit was there (as a Spirit Led Journey) , I could also see that you have been called by the Ancestors to make a Spiritual Walk or Journey to come back to know them. The picture also showed me something else.. .the Spirit Warrior in the Hunt on Spirit Knowledge ..."~ Principal Chief, Two Bears Standing ~ 5/14/02
The Tabernacle, New Jersey artist, whose real name, Sandra, is all but forgotten, claims she has been devoted to her craft since before kindergarten. “I’ve always loved to create”, she explains. Starting at an early age, my mother kept my sister, Denise, and I busy drawing, coloring and making collages.
Sandy attended Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She went back to Moore to teach Saturday young people’s illustration classes. Learning computer graphics programs over the past couple of years, Sandy has also attended The Philadelphia Art Institute and Burlington County College.
At Moore, Sandy studied watercolor independently with Ranulph Bye. His training stemmed from the Brandywine tradition of art, which includes such artists as the Wyeths, N.C., Andrew and Jamie. He encouraged me to stick it out with a medium that can be very unforgiving.”, Sandy said. More recently, studying the teachings of Edgar Whitney, Sandy has been learning new techniques by attending the workshops of some of the best impressionistic contemporary watercolorists in this country, some of whom were once Whitney’s students.
Sandy now operates Sandarosa Studio out of her pinelands home. “Sometimes I miss working with other people,” she said. “But my cats and horses keep me company, along with all the native birds and deer who visit my yard.” Here she concentrates mainly on her painting, producing well over 200 originals a year. Limited edition prints and original watercolors ”that interpret the essence” are always available for sale. The artist’s love of nature, birds and animals is evident in her artwork. Sandy has on-going exhibits of her work throughout the year, is a member of several art associations and has received numerous awards. Show schedule, recent original watercolors, prints and much more can be seen on Sandy’s frequently updated web site at http://www.sandysandy.com. E-mail Sandy through her web site or call her at 609-268-9106. with your inquiries.
