| Your Personal Biography |
American Surrealist artist Massimiliano Stanco doesn’t only represent on his canvasses the unexpected, as well as irony and deep subconscious. In his artwork, Stanco toys with everyday objects, human habits and emotions, placing them in foreign contexts and questioning their familiar meanings. He suggests new interpretations of the realist world in his constantly transforming paintings, making the commonplace profound and the rational irrational. He paints his canvasses in the same manner he lives his life: with modesty and living two different cultures that are strongly marked in each work.
The elegant Italian style with a American spirit of freedom.
Stanco was born in 1980 in Glen Cove a small center located on Long Island, a cosmopolitan area of New York that is greatly influenced by Italians. Twelve years later, Stanco, along with his family moved to Italy, where he studied sketching, photography and graphic design. While in Florence, he met several other painters, artists and critics, collaborated on a short-lived review, and exhibited his first work at the Galleria Laba.
During his academic years he traveled in most parts of northern and southern Italy, Austria and Netherlands experiencing different local cultures, architecture and environments. This experience would prove a great influence upon his later artwork, as many panoramas, deep sky and vibrant rich colors recur in many of his paintings.
Stanco moved back in his homeland New York where he successfully follows his career in art, where his figures and “fairy tale landscapes” are constantly evolving.
