Artist Statement:
Time and Space - a
psychological concept about
existence, nature and
contradiction. I made these
art works in Amsterdam, the
Netherlands, during the last
few years.
Besides sophisticated
techniques and a rich display
of colours I concentrate on
what a painting has to say.
The light has the important
role of creating the
fantastic, the unreal
character of images. How does
it change our state of mind
and the approximation of the
outer world? It is the
unavoidable interaction among
subjects, people and
surroundings.
I was always inpired by the
beauty of landscapes and the
pragmatic, still relaxed
atmosphere of dutch culture.
When one rejects this calm
stillness and madly embraces
the fast, hectic rat race, a
mass of many images, a wild
reality leaves a weight upon
life.
Even though my intention was
to capture the face of death
and existence, in these
paintings one can sense a more
meditative mood....
