From Beneath The Surface
Mother Earth-Rich in Spirit
Sacred Messengers of healing and strength. Natural stone enhanced by the permanent application of crushed stone and oxides.
In 1990 I was at a turning point in my life, uneducated and unemployable at what I would have liked to do, I was at a point where I was going to return to a bad situation because I felt there were no other options.
A storm in the country (reflecting my present state) and a stone worked together to forever change my path in life and healing.
Stone,.... Asinew, spoke to me in volumes that only the Earth can speak, leading me into a world of spirituality and healing that I had never even dreamed of. (yes I am a dreamer) *S*
I am in debt to the stones, and am honoured that they have chosen me to interpret thier beauty.
Not a day goes by that I don't thank Creator and Mother Earth for these gifts. The gifts of earth energy and the gift of being able to slow down and truly see the world through...

Exhibitions for Natalie Rostad Desjarlais:
|
|
|
Currently I have exhibited in Canada, United States and Brazil. I have had the fortune to show in exotic locales such as Hawaii and Arizona as well. Primarily, I travel to shows about 6-8 times a year, but am taking some time away from the road to create and spend time with family, friends and animals. I anticipate that I will be showing again by summer of 2001.

Summary of Qualifications:
*
From Beneath The Surface:
Natalie started her business”From Beneath The Surface in 1990, today she is considered a pioneer of an art form that brings to life images hidden in the stones of Mother Earth. She understands that each rock has it’s own personality and as she works on the stone, a powerful image and message emerges from within.
Natalie has been making a specially formulated ,natural paint from stone, ochre and naturally occurring pigments.
As recognized by an Elder, Natalie has the great gift of teaching people to see differently. “The rocks teach me to listen and see that spirit exists everywhere” she explained. “These generous offerings from nature are spiritual and abound with messages of empowerment, respect and unity. It’s fascinating that each stone is on it’s own unique journey, going through much trauma and change and finally revealing it’s beauty and strength- “
That is the essence of my own journey in life”.
Natalie devotes her work toward the improvement and quality of life for all people. Especially women and children. She strives to raise greater awareness of issues concerning the environment, human rights, racism, family violence and healing.

Most recently I have had fun being on a tv show called Plains Talk on PBS. and had the honour of having the work on the cover of "Black Eyes All Of The Time" a documentary work by Anne MacGillvray, about domestic violence. This healing work is my life calling, and any time that the stones are able to share the healing in any form I know that I indeed have been honouring my gift.
Thank you In Spirit Natalie (Rock Woman)
