From Beneath The Surface
Mother Earth-Rich in Spirit
Sacred Messengers of healing and strength. Natural stone enhanced by the permanent application of crushed stone and oxides.
In 1990 I was at a turning point in my life, uneducated and unemployable at what I would have liked to do, I was at a point where I was going to return to a bad situation because I felt there were no other options.
A storm in the country (reflecting my present state) and a stone worked together to forever change my path in life and healing.
Stone,.... Asinew, spoke to me in volumes that only the Earth can speak, leading me into a world of spirituality and healing that I had never even dreamed of. (yes I am a dreamer) *S*
I am in debt to the stones, and am honoured that they have chosen me to interpret thier beauty.
Not a day goes by that I don't thank Creator and Mother Earth for these gifts. The gifts of earth energy and the gift of being able to slow down and truly see the world through their eyes.
From pebbles to boulders, the earth will take you there, to an energy and strength found from the journey from the heart of their Mother. I am in awe of you. In Spirit Asinieskwew Rock Woman.
FROM BENEATH THE SURFACE
At the edge of a field of thorns , I waited... a heart of stone.
Lost among the layers of pain, covered in blankets of bitter ice,
in an escape of chosen depth.
Forgetting to believe in the light that touched a part of me.
Revealed only in part by a corner of my soul.
Seemingly powerless, I picked up a stone... and was magically empowered by her beauty and peace.
Whispers, in the darkness of my mind
a flutter of life and a flicker of hope, all rushing in
to carry me until I could be strong on my own.
Asinew, stone, share with me the secret of your scars,
the pain and the beauty
of understanding their purpose.
It has made you who you are,.... unique and special and strong.
Subtly.....
like a poet among the stones, I learned about me,
gentle reminders of reality nudging at the boundaries of my soul.
Like my need for balance...
which made me stumble hard and fall... against the harshness of the broken pieces of my life,
only to learn to walk among them,
without blood from either side.
Lend me your strength as I seek my own,
still buried beneath the surface, covered in winter's decay.
She made no judgements as I wept upon her, allowing the tears to wet the surface,
reflecting back to me the ultimate truth.
I seek shelter in the presence of the emerging stone, warmed by her contact with the sun.
Now I too, journey upwards toward the sun, with it's healing warmth,
eternally grateful for Asinew, who revealed her soul to me
from beneath the surface.

. I work with the stones that I have gathered all over North America or I use stones that were special to others. I let the stone dictate what the imagery and message will be.
It is this belief that spirit dwells everywhere, that has made me a successful artist for 10 years.
