| Your Personal Biography |
I am Jamaican born self-taught photographer who uses the camera as my medium for artistic expression. As a young child, I migrated to the United Kingdom with my parents. I studied at Hammersmith College of Arts and Building where I obtained my interior design degree. My passion for photography began when I stumbled into an exhibition featuring the erotic photography of Helmut Newton and Hideki Fujii at the Photographer’s Gallery in London while returning to my office after a design site meeting. The work of Hideki Fujii, a great, Japanese photographer had an impact and influenced me to take up photography. I bought a camera the following day and immersed myself into learning the craft of photography. During that time I traveled to Africa where the colors, the people and their art intrigued me. My first series `African Erotic Art was partly influenced by the images of that trip.
I prefer to shoot with available light whenever possible especially indoors with the light coming in from a window. I use a technique commonly known as Rembrandt Lighting,
where a shaft of light illuminate the subject in a very subtle way with the background becoming dark and moody. With my portrait, fashion and fetish work I use studio strobes which is a harder light source. The images are more saturated and sharper and more suitable for this type of work.
I only work with certain types of models. They are usually aloof with an air of decadence,
mysterious, sensual, exotic and comfortable with nudity and eroticism. I will always be
grateful for their intellect and the trust they have in me and my work.
