Artist Statement:
Within my everyday life, I am
primarily a visual person. As
such I am not limited only to
the Visual Course which I am
studying full time, but see
life as an opportunity to be
visually creative always
looking for inspiration. I
express myself through the
language of colour, new forms
and textured surfaces. Im
inspired by Beuys in the
notion that life is a
sculpture we carve.
My participation in as many
exhibitions and other public
showings is important to me as
they offer experience and
preparation that can't be
found elsewhere. In addition I
have been fortunate enough to
be the joint winner of the
Heinz Kestermann Award at the
end of last year for my
painting named "Easel
Composition".
My images explore the blending
of traditional colours and
images with contemporary
styles and forms. My preferred
fields include printmaking,
painting, drawing and mixed
media. My subject matter tends
to focus past experiences,
both good and bad. For
example, life, love, of all
types, mental and emotional
problems and solutions,
memories, music and dancing
etc. Basically anything I feel
passionate and strongly
towards.
