Artist Statement:
Garte is interested in
creating art just for you!
He came to this conclusion
with the realization that his
most successful works, whether
home, garden, or pet
portraits, sculptures or
paintings based on favorite
subjects, were all pieces
requested first by family,
friends and then people who
saw his work at art fairs and
exhibits. If you have a series
of photographs from a favorite
vacation, Garte can combine
them into a painting,
providing a composition that
no photogragh could create!
The work becomes a true
collaboration you are an
important part of the creation
of a new work of fine art!
Garte is an
"award-winning" exhibitor in
juried fine art shows and art
fairs.He has been featured in
newspaper articles, a local
cable show, and a half hour
television program on HGTV
entitled “The Good Life”. His
work as a
psychologist/therapist prior
to becoming a full time artist
has influenced his approach to
art.He believes that most
people seeking therapy are
focused on the pain and
negative aspects of their
lives and that one element of
healing in psychotherapy is to
help people to reinterpret
