Artist Statement:
Always I am enchanted by the essence of light, captivated by the manner in which it plays with color, manipulates form, creates mood and drama. This is what draws me to a particular landscape scene, or what I try to create in a still life. That observation experience is only ...

| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
I would have to say that at this point I am most inspired by the essence of light-how it affects and manipulates color, form, mood. I love dramatic lighting in portraiture, in the landscape, and I try to capture a dramatic play of light and dark in my still life paintings. So it's all about the light for me, in any genre of painting! |

| Your Personal Biography |
In 1987, when my children were young, I finally decided what I wanted to be when I grew up. I enrolled in the Art Department at UNCA to embard on a second college career (1st one-BA Sociology, UNC-CH 1972). I completed the BFA in 1994, graduating with honors. It was during this leg of my education that I discovered the true passion and excitement of learning. Since 2000, when my youngest went to college, I've focused my efforts on my artwork, trying to realize my true voice and figure out my muse. I've also come to realize I absolutely have to paint--if I'm not doing it, then I'm thinking about it. Despite this fact, I'm not a prolific painter, I definitely take my time. That being said, if there's a deadline, I can crank'em out--just a little out of breath when I cross the finish line! |
