Artist Statement:
Art as Jewelry or Jewelry as
Art.
I design every piece with the
vision that jewelry is art.
And just like a fine painting
it must follow the same
principals. There must be a
good composition that is
interesting and not mundane.
The use of color must be
pleasant and work together to
create a feeling or image. The
use of light and reflection is
to highlight the colors or
composition.
In jewelry there is one more
factor to be considered and
that is architecture; the
piece of jewelry must be
wearable and comfortable. As
I carve the wax for each and
every piece of jewelry, I keep
all of these things in mind;
Jewelry is fine art.

Michael von Krenner believes that jewelry is fine art and that it should be fun and easy to wear. Fine jewelry of gold and platinum with beautiful gems should not sit in the bank vaults where one does not get to appreciate the beauty of a piece of art.
His work is influenced by the natural and organic flora of Hawaii, Michael's childhood home. He received most of his training from German platinum smiths in Hawaii where he developed his craftsmanship. Michael’s work is some of the finest in the country.
Michael is now a Master jeweler and engraver who traveled all over the world searching for inspiration and new design concepts. During his 14 years in Beverly Hills, California, Michael has created fine pieces of jewelry for many celebrities in the music and film industry.
As a Graduate Gemologist, Michael is very in tune to the colors of the gems he uses and tries to get the brightest and boldest colors in his palette for jewelry. After all, jewelry is like miniature paintings or sculptures. Michael’s work is highly sought after and collected by clients all over the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
Michael has recently moved to Sarasota, Florida to make his home here and contribute his art to the local community. He is continuing to expand his private client base through creating fine jewels of art and accurate appraisals of your fine heirlooms. |
