Artist Statement for Michael Von Krenner

Art as Jewelry or Jewelry as Art.
I design every piece with the vision that jewelry is art. And just like a fine painting it must follow the same principals. There must be a good composition that is interesting and not mundane. The use of color must be pleasant and work together to create a feeling or image. The use of light and reflection is to highlight the colors or composition.
In jewelry there is one more factor to be considered and that is architecture; the piece of jewelry must be wearable and comfortable. As I carve the wax for each and every piece of jewelry, I keep all of these things in mind; Jewelry is fine art.
