Artist Statement for Richard Taylor

|
|
I paint almost exclusively from photographs that I have taken in the many places I have travelled over the past 15 years or so. Through oil paint, I try to re-create the feeling and texture of that moment in time and place I was in.
I use mechanical pencil to sketch out my canvases, the sketch process can take 15 minutes for a simple composition to several days for more complicated compositions.
I use Lukas oil, artist studio paints.
Painting time varies from work to work, some are finished in one session, others take several days to complete.
