Artist Statement:
Seems as though I have always had drawing materials of one sort or another in my hand since I could hold one. Then came the paint brushes, and the tinier the better. Then came the calligraphy pens. Haven't put them down since.
I have taught calligraphy and illumination, as well ceramic painting. But, I prefer to do, rather than teach. (sorry, G B Shaw). In the U.K. I studied the aplication of gold leaf.
Until recently, my illuminated manuscripts were done as commissions only, but now with existing technology, one can duplicate one's work at home with the marvelous printers and acid free papers available for the purpose--giving the artist 100% control over the finished product.
Endeavouring to keep up with the times, I now use professional graphics programs to manipulate my work, but I always begin with hand lettered calligraphy and my own paintings...
