Artist Statement:
John Houston spreads his time
between a busy life in London
and the tranquility of rural
Brittany in France. His
working career as a
journalist, as a designer and
then PR writer are about as
divorced from his work as a
painter as could be found.
Inspired by the
Impressionists, Scottish
colourists and a love of the
countryside, as a painter he
absorbs himself in the endless
pursuit of colour from the
natural world.
Having painted with some of
the leading new artists in the
USA he recently joined the
Creekside Artists in London.
This group is located in what
has become officially
recognised as the creative hub
in South East London.
