Artist Statement:
Development of My Work
There have been various
concepts, meanings, and
narratives which have
influenced my work. It is
difficult if not impossible to
separate the purely
formal(visual structures)from
any concern with narrative,
social or communicative
meaning. The best visual art
has never been an exercise in
decoration. My work has always
been a means to not only say
something to the outside
world, but also to discover
things for myself. To this
effect, techniques, methods,
processes, are all
subservient to what I want to
say. However,this is never an
easy task since what one wants
to say or communicate visually
may not be
meaningful. Visual art should
give new insights about the
world.
This is why originality along
with technical skill in
drawing and painting is an
important aspect of visual
art. One does not strive to be
original,it does not work that
way. But in order for one’s
work to be meaningful, it has
to say things in a way which
enlarges, deepens, or
amplifies what has been said
before.

Welcome to Thomas Cappuccio's Portfolio.
Development of My Work
There have been various concepts, meanings, and narratives which have influenced my work.
