Artist Statement:
Our collaborative ceramic art
for the wall uses the
composition of the outside
edges, interior forms, and
saturated colors to juxtapose
a sense of serenity and
dynamic energy.

We use the complex medium of
clay because it offers
sculptural options, as well as
painterly surfaces. The clay
invites a broad palette of
colors and textures as well as
additional possibilities for
adding other materials such as
metal and wood.

We fire our wall sculptures in
a range from cone 04 to cone 2
and use underglazes and slips.
Our sculpted clay wall
paintings range in size from
several inches to many feet.

In contrast, our ceramic
"vessels" most often are
intended to invoke themes of
myth and legend. Some have a
strong sense of architecture.
We endeavor to imbue each
vessel with an "inner life"
that pulses and swells. We
strive to make them seem alive
-- as though they might get up
and walk. These highly
sculpted and textured forms
are usually treated with
subtle underglaze colors in
layered applications. Our
colors lend contrast to the
forms and are meant to give a
certain ageless and peaceful
effect....

Reviews for Tim And Pamala Ballingham:

"...Your painterly application of glazes is superb and the resulting atmospheric ethereal qualities of light, air and space are quite wonderful... By creating seamless unity of material, process and idea, your wall pieces powerfully communicate a subliminal desire for the viewer to be in balance and at one with the forces of nature.... I compliment you on having a distinctive style..."
