Artist Statement:
Art and animals have always
been a big part of my life. I
coould not imagine what life
would be like without the
"creative out" I get from
drawing and the enjoyment of
immortalizing some of God's
most magnificent creatures. I
love everything about them
both! I guess you could say
it's my way of honoring God
and his wonderful animal
kingdom.
I happen to specialize in Pen
and Ink Pointillism, which is
not widely practiced and if
you know exactly what it is,
then you also know why it
isn't! This technique involves
drawing a picture entirely of
dots. This is not a technique
for the impatient, but for me,
a labor of love. I found
early in my (ever evolving)
art "learning" that I had a
knack for this medium and it
came very natural for me.
This medium gave me the
ability to get the detail I
wanted on each of the animals
I did. I could make them look
like photographs and I thought
that was cool!
I work well in other media as
well, mostly anything black
and white, such as charcoals,
graphite, scratchboard, etc.
