Artist Statement:
"A work of art is a corner of creation seen through a temperament"- Emile Zola
Painting and drawing are indeed the most natural of woman's activities. We are the keepers of the memories of our lives and families, and in the course of natural being we pass on these emotional responses to our young, thereby developing the history of our clans. Our communicative nature encourages us to utilize our personal language of emotion in telling our stories. We do this with pen, paint, quilting and through our most natural act of storytelling. My world of narrative was encouraged throughout my lifetime. I took cues from the works of the Masters from the best learing place for such creations, the many fine museums and artistic endeavors of my birthplace, New York City.
Later study at Pratt Institute and the Art Students League of New York helped with the technical and colorist training I received. Influenced by Monet, Degas, Cezanne, Bonnard, and Matisse, I embrace all mediums and veiwpoints of expression. My career has spanned over thirty years, and I am proud to have passed on to my daughter, Rebecca, the desire to also major in the arts. I have been...
