Artist Statement for Tom Elliott

Tom Elliott, born in Toledo, Ohio, on March 30, 1938 at 1:29 P.M., photographs everybody and everything. Raised in Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and Tennessee, he naturally met a lot of people, and people are his favorite subjects. While working as production manager on "DATELINE: HOLLYWOOD", a five-day-a-week show on ABC-TV, starring Rona Barrett and Joanna Barnes, Tom had the opportunity to photograph many celebrities.
When "DATELINE" went off the air, Tom returned to advertising and moved to New York, continuing to free-lance for ABC, UniRoyal, Western Electric and American Merchandise Corporation (photographing such designers as Bill Blass, and Bobbie Brooks and their creations).
A Miamian since 1972, Tom has photographed for the airline industry, the banking community, local hospitals, charities while still keeping his New York clients with monthly commutes.
Not forgetting why he chose photography, Tom also sells fine art photos of people to private collectors. Tom is presently exploring and experimenting in High Resolution Computer Imaging and its application to advertising and fine art photography, along with providing desktop video editing services to the trade.
"Life occasionally gets tough, but never grim. I find that to the degree I participate, the more I can create, and the more fun life becomes."
