Artist Statement:
The pervasive influence of the
sea on the landscape that
surrounds him in the far west
of Cornwall in the UK is his
principal theme as he prepares
for an autumn exhibition at
the Spring and Steele
Galleries at Falmouth Arts
Centre. This has led to a
preoccupation with the
influence of the ambient
“ocean” light that he has
found to be a key factor in
recent work produced at his
studio located at this far
westerly tip of the UK.
His chosen media are: charcoal
on paper and acrylic on
canvas. Characteristic of his
work for many years has been a
play on varied picture
formats, sometimes employing
more than one canvas within a
single piece. ...
